About us

If you love pets and plants like we do, you are in the right place.

At Fur and Flora, we’re cat and dog people who also happen to adore a home full of greenery. This shop began the way many good things do: with a problem we could not ignore. When we started searching for “pet-safe” plants for our own homes, we kept finding the opposite—mislabelled products, vague claims, and lists that didn’t match trusted sources. It should not be this hard to keep both pets and plants thriving.

So we built the shop we wished existed: a place you can trust, grounded in research, curated with care, and honest about limits.

Our Promise

  • Research first, always. Every plant we offer is checked against reputable veterinary and toxicology resources. If we cannot verify it, we do not sell it—no matter how popular it is.
  • Transparency over trends. Non-toxic means a plant is considered safe to live with, though not necessarily safe to snack on; even pet-friendly plants can irritate a curious mouth or stomach if chewed. There is no such thing as a completely risk-free plant, and you deserve that truth up front.

How We Choose Plants

  • Identify candidates from reliable databases and publications.
  • Cross-check scientific names, known look-alikes, and cultivar notes.
  • Review multiple sources.
  • Add only those species that meet our standards.
  • Keep auditing—if guidance changes, so do we.

Why We Do This

We believe a greener home should not come with second-guessing your pet’s safety. We built Fur and Flora to remove that doubt—so you can enjoy beautiful plants and a wagging tail or gentle purr in the same room.

A Gentle Note on Care
We are not a medical provider. If you have any doubts about your pet’s health—or if your pet shows concerning symptoms—please contact a veterinarian.
